Preventative care is the best way to avoid dental problems down the road. The best preventative care is frequent brushing and flossing. Our hygienists, as well as our dentists, are always glad to go over the best techniques during any visit.
We recommend a cleaning and exam twice a year. We have registered dental hygienists who will remove plaque and tartar, after which the dentist will thoroughly examine the patient alerting him to any problems and offering a suggested course of treatment. Diagnostic X-rays are another important tool that every dentist should use to locate problems as early as possible. We recommend that bitewing X-rays be taken twice a year and that a full series, also knows as a panoramic series, be taken once every three years. We are proud to offer both the equipment on site, as well as trained state-licensed technicians to operate it. Sealants play an important role in the prevention of cavities by shielding the deep grooves found in molars from the bacteria that causes decay. Coating your teeth with plastic sealants makes it harder for plaque to stick to the tiny grooves on the biting surfaces of your molars, which reduces the risk of tooth decay. Sealants are easy to apply and painless. No drilling is required to apply the sealant and is only used to polish the sealant down to ensure that the patient feels no difference in his bite. |
